The Wayne State University women's golf team concluded its participation in the second annual Warrior Invitational on Tuesday, finishing seventh out of 13 teams. The event took place over two days and included 54 holes of play.
Wayne State ended with a team score of 945 (+81), recording rounds of 308, 317, and 320. Claudia Portillo led the Warriors individually, placing 15th among the 78 players in the field with a total score of 230 (+14) after rounds of 78, 76, and 76.
Other notable performances from Wayne State included Sonia Bayahya tying for 20th at +17 (233), Clara Laffitte tying for 34th at +27 (243), Ting-Yu Kuo tying for 37th at +28 (244), and Orianna Bylsma tying for 44th at +33 (249).
Grand Valley State and Findlay shared first place in the team standings with identical scores of +21 (885). Ferris State finished third at +48 (912), followed by Davenport, Northwood, Lewis, and Wayne State.
The next tournament for Wayne State is scheduled to be the Lady Bulldog Fall Invitational hosted by Ferris State University on September 27-28. This event will take place at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Michigan.
