Wayne State women's golf finishes fifth at Bulldog Fall Classic

The Wayne State University women's golf team improved its standing at the Bulldog Fall Classic, finishing fifth after two days of competition hosted by Ferris State in Big Rapids, Michigan. The Warriors posted a combined score of 625 (+49), moving up from seventh place and ending just three strokes behind Gannon University, which finished fourth.

Claudia Portillo led Wayne State for the third consecutive tournament this season. She placed 16th overall with a two-round total of 154 (+10). This marks her 11th top-25 finish in 13 career events. Other notable performances included Ting-Yu Kuo and Clara Laffitte, who both tied for 21st with scores of 157 (+13). Orianna Bylsma finished tied for 27th at 159 (+15), while Sonia Bayahya was tied for 49th with a score of 163 (+19).

Grand Valley State won the event with a total score of 583 (+7), followed by Ferris State (603, +27), Tiffin (616, +40), Gannon (622, +46), and Wayne State rounding out the top five.

The Warriors will compete next at Findlay's William Beall Fall Classic in Ohio on October 6-7.
