The Wayne State University women's tennis team is set to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships, which will take place in Grand Rapids, Michigan from Saturday, October 4 through Monday, October 6.

In their previous outing at Bowling Green State University's Hidden Duals on September 26-27, Wayne State faced Butler University, the University of Findlay, and BGSU. Malak Arafat and Martyna Szpakowska were the team's top performers in singles matches, each finishing with a 2-1 record. In doubles play, Arafat and Szpakowska teamed up for a perfect 3-0 record over the weekend.

The ITA Midwest Regional Championships will feature both singles and doubles matches. Teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), and Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) are expected to participate. The winners of singles and doubles events in each of the eight regions will secure automatic bids to the ITA Cup. Additional at-large bids will be awarded to four regional finalists and four semifinalists based on last year's rankings and quality of wins.
