Senior middle blocker Kayla Giroux and junior setter Kayla Dulgar from the Wayne State University volleyball team have received two of the three weekly honors awarded by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), according to an announcement from the league office on Monday.
Giroux was recognized as Offensive Player of the Week for the fifth time in her career. This is her second such honor this season. During the week, she achieved a .324 hitting percentage with 31 kills and nine errors on 68 total attacks. In the match against No. 18 Grand Valley State, Giroux recorded 21 kills, just two short of her career high, on a season-best 45 attempts and a .356 hitting percentage. She followed up with 10 kills and four errors on 23 attempts, resulting in a .261 hitting percentage, during the win at Purdue Northwest.
Dulgar earned Setter of the Week for the fifth time as a Warrior and also for the second time this fall. She accumulated 82 assists, averaging 10.25 per set, along with three service aces—all achieved in the match against Purdue Northwest—and 15 digs.
The Wayne State Warriors will return home this week for two matches. They are scheduled to play Parkside on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a match against Roosevelt on Saturday at 4 p.m.
