The Wayne State University men's fencing team achieved three wins and one loss at the OSU Duals, held on October 12, 2025, at Ohio State University's French Field House in Columbus, Ohio.
Wayne State secured victories over Purdue University (22-5), Ohio State's club team (19-8), and Cleveland State University (18-9). The team's only defeat came against Ohio State's varsity squad, with a score of 26-1.
In the epee competition, four Warriors competed: Lance Miller, Justin Chenh, Bryce Heim, and Shuayb Dinkins. Miller recorded a 4-4 record with wins against Purdue, OSU's club team, and Cleveland State. Chenh made his debut for Wayne State and finished with a 5-7 mark, earning wins against Purdue, Cleveland State, and OSU's club team. Heim posted a 5-4 record after going undefeated against Purdue and adding victories over the OSU club team and Cleveland State. Dinkins ended the day 4-3 and was the only Wayne State fencer to win a bout against Ohio State's varsity squad.
In sabre, Connor Desautels led with six wins and three losses. He went undefeated against Purdue, won twice against OSU's club team, and added another win versus Cleveland State. Brendan Goeddeke had a 5-4 record with multiple victories over Purdue and the Buckeyes' club squad. Gwyd Perry and Gabriel Dumoulin each finished 4-5 on the day.
For foil, Carlos Santos achieved an 8-1 record that included two perfect outings against Purdue and OSU's club team. Josiah Atkinson earned six wins in nine bouts. Jakub Oronowicz, Lukas Tsao, and Finn McIsaac each recorded three wins in five bouts. Mitchell Gatrell participated but did not secure any wins against Ohio State.
"The Wayne State University men's fencing team will return to the campus of Ohio State for the OSU Elite Invitational next month (November 8-9)," according to the announcement.
