Wayne State women’s fencing secures three wins at OSU Duals

The Wayne State University women's fencing team achieved three victories at the OSU Duals held on October 12, 2025, at The Ohio State University's French Field House in Columbus, Ohio. The team recorded wins against the University of Michigan (20-4), Purdue University (20-4), and Cleveland State University (19-6). They were defeated by the host, Ohio State, with a score of 18-9.

In the epee category, Reka Galfalvy and Salma Abdrabou represented Wayne State. Galfalvy posted a 10-1 record, winning all her bouts against opponents from Michigan, Ohio State, and Cleveland State, and finishing 2-1 against Purdue. Abdrabou also performed well with a 9-2 record, including undefeated performances against Michigan and Purdue.

For sabre, four athletes competed: Shriya Bangalore, Mikhala Rivers, Reagan Byars, and Mehreen Siddiqui. Bangalore ended with a 4-3 record and was undefeated in matches against Michigan and Cleveland State but lost three bouts to Ohio State fencers. Rivers matched this performance with a 4-3 record and went undefeated in her matches against Michigan and Cleveland State. Byars had a 2-2 record with wins over competitors from Michigan and Cleveland State. Siddiqui participated in three bouts but did not secure a win.

In foil competition, Ludovica Mancini finished with a perfect 5-0 record after having gone 10-0 the previous day at the OSU Open. Anabella Acurero Gonzalez achieved a 3-2 record with victories over fencers from Cleveland State and Ohio State.

The Wayne State women's fencing team is scheduled to return to Columbus for the OSU Elite Invitational on November 8-9.
