The Wayne State University men's golf team concluded the Doc Spragg Fall Invitational in fourth place, maintaining their position from the first day of the tournament. The event, hosted by the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, featured 17 teams. Wayne State finished with a 54-hole total score of 866 (+2), just seven strokes behind co-leaders Missouri-St. Louis and Findlay, who both posted scores of 859 (-5).

Head coach Mike Horn commented on the team's performance, stating, "Our inexperience caught up with us today. We played very very well this morning, but just had a couple of mistakes in critical spots. I'm very proud of how this team played all fall and every tournament we played in, we held the lead at one point. We will learn from this, get better and will execute better down the stretch come this spring and in following years. Congratulations to Troy (Chapman) for finishing in the top five and overall, all six guys battled very well for all three rounds. But we've gotta learn from this going forward and we will."

Troy Chapman was Wayne State's top performer, tying for third place individually with a score of 213 (-3). Other notable finishes for Wayne State included Josh Lahner, who tied for 12th at 216 (even par), and Jack Julian, who tied for 24th at 219 (+3). Andrew Daily and Will Pollack rounded out the team scores, finishing tied for 30th and 49th, respectively. Harrison Chapman, competing as an individual, also tied for 30th.

The top five teams in the tournament were Missouri-St. Louis and Findlay (tied for first), Tiffin, Wayne State, and Hillsdale.

Wayne State's next competition will be at Albion College's Marshall Masters, scheduled for Thursday, October 16 at Marshall Country Club in Marshall, Michigan.
