The Wayne State University men's and women's cross country teams are set to participate in the Saginaw Valley State University's Red October Meet, scheduled for Friday, October 17 in University Center, Michigan. The women's 6K race is set to begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the men's 8K at 11:45 AM.

At their most recent competition, the Jayhawk Invite hosted by Muskegon Community College on October 11, the Wayne State women's team secured first place with a total of 22 points and five athletes finishing among the top ten. Emilee Rudlaff led the women’s team with a fourth-place finish. On the men's side, Ian Lewis placed eleventh and contributed to Wayne State’s third-place team result.

The upcoming meet will feature four teams: Wayne State University, Northwood University, the SV Club Running team, and host Saginaw Valley State. The event will take place at the SVSU Cross Country Course. Saginaw Valley State's men's cross country team currently holds an eighth-place national ranking according to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

In the latest USTFCCCA regional and national rankings released on October 14, both Wayne State's men's and women's squads received recognition within the Midwest region. The men’s team is ranked ninth while the women’s team holds tenth place.
