The Wayne State University men's golf team concluded its fall season at the Marshall Masters, hosted by Albion, on Thursday. The Warriors fielded two squads in the event, with their "B" group finishing second and the "C" group placing third among eight teams.
Harrison Chapman of Wayne State earned his first collegiate Individual Medalist honor by shooting a 69, two strokes under par. He competed on his home course in Marshall, Michigan.
Head coach Mike Horn commented on Chapman's performance and the team's outlook: "Really great round today by Harrison," said Horn. "That's his first college win and really cool to see him get that on his own course. Also some really good rounds from Troy, Jack, Andrew and Shawn. This was a very successful fall campaign and I'm very excited to see what we do come spring time. We're going to work our tail off this winter and each guy will have a set of objectives and things to work on when we meet in the next couple of weeks. I know these guys are going to put the time and energy in to improve their own specific game. I look forward to our spring season. Go Warriors."
For Wayne State's "B" squad, Troy Chapman finished second individually with an even-par 71. Will Pollack tied for 13th place with a score of 76 (+5), Luke Maher tied for 15th at 77 (+6), and Josh Lahner tied for 21st at 79 (+8).
On the "C" squad, both Andrew Daily and Jack Julian tied for third place individually with scores of 72 (+1). Shawn Sehra tied for sixth at 73 (+2), while Aidan Treharne finished tied for 24th at 80 (+9).
Albion secured first place in the team standings with a total score of 292 (+8), narrowly edging out Wayne State's "B" group (293, +9) and "C" group (297, +13). Other teams competing included Trine "B", Tiffin "B", Albion "B", Olivet, and Lourdes "B".
