Wayne State University will host the first Detroit Diving Classic on Saturday at noon at The Matthaei Natatorium. The event will feature both men's and women's diving teams from Wayne State, Aquinas College, and Davenport University.

Head diving coach Jason Trout commented on the significance of the meet for the Warriors' season. "The Detroit Dive Classic kicks off our meet season and we could not be more excited to get back into competition mode," said Trout. "Being an early season meet, it will serve as a measuring stick for the rest of the season. We've trained hard up to this point and now it's time to execute. I am looking forward to the divers showing their progress and building momentum for the rest of the season."

The schedule includes two events: Event 1 features Men's 1-meter and Women's 3-meter dives, while Event 2 includes Men's 3-meter and Women's 1-meter dives. Divers can choose between performing six or eleven dives based on their needs, with events running concurrently.

Wayne State's potential competitors in the men's division are Xavier Hawkins, John Martin, and Max Wasiniak. For the women’s team, Ariana Heugh, Ella Murawski, Isla Puzjak, Hannah Siebern, Alicia Viaches, and Zoe Wood are listed as possible participants.

Aquinas College will be represented by Evan Bennett, Troy Borrero, Major Vance, Cooper Wasson (men), and Taylor Moss along with Emma Nibbelink (women). Davenport University's team includes Matthew Gauck, Robert Russo, Parker Schut (men), as well as Maya Deaton, Elise Miller, and Avary Robinson (women).

The Detroit Diving Classic marks an early opportunity for all three schools to assess their athletes’ performance as they begin their competitive seasons.
