The Wayne State University women’s swim and dive team advanced 12 student-athletes to the finals after the third day of preliminaries at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship in Holland, Michigan, on Sunday.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Diana Muccioli secured a spot in the championship finals with a sixth-place finish and an NCAA B cut time of 5:01.60. Emily Hedley, Lilian Ljuckanov, and Danika Fessenden will compete in the consolation finals after finishing ninth, tenth, and eleventh respectively.
For the 100-yard backstroke, Kate Rhodes placed eleventh, Megan Unger twelfth, and Annika Cho fifteenth, all advancing to the consolation finals. Lily Lindower finished seventeenth and did not advance.
Delaney Parker reached the championship finals in the 100-yard breaststroke with a fourth-place finish and an NCAA B cut time of 1:03.48. Emma Crispo will participate in the consolation finals after placing eleventh. Kelsey Milz and Rose Haney did not advance.
In the 200-yard butterfly event, Elly Belmore (sixth), Scarlet Maison (seventh), and Danika Fessenden (eighth) advanced to the championship finals. Ava Zimmerman, Maddy Flynn, and Madelyn Peura did not advance.
The evening’s finals session is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Holland Community Aquatic Center and will include events such as the 800 free relay.
Wayne State Warriors Women’s Swimming and Diving competes at the NCAA Division II level as part of Wayne State University’s intercollegiate athletics program based in Detroit, Michigan. The team is a member of both NCAA Division II events and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (official university athletics website).
