Five former student-athletes from Wayne State University have been selected for induction into the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame. This year’s class includes women’s ice hockey forward Lindsay DiPietro, track thrower Elizabeth (Herriman) Willnow, baseball pitcher Kyle Hill, men’s basketball forward Chuck Key, and football kicker/punter Stefan Terleckyj.
Additionally, the 1955-56 men’s basketball team will be the first team inducted into the Hall of Fame. “The Hall of Fame represents the very best of Warrior Athletics, those who have set the standard through their dedication, leadership, and achievement,” said WSU Director of Athletics Erika Wallace. She added that this year’s inductees reflect excellence both individually and collectively.
Wallace also noted the significance of inducting a team for the first time: “This year is especially meaningful as we induct our first-ever team. Recognizing a team allows us to celebrate the power of unity and shared achievement.”
The induction ceremony is scheduled for October 3 at The Eastern in Detroit. Tickets are available for $75 and include entry to a football game on October 4 against Michigan Tech. The Hall of Fame membership will increase to 280 individuals and one team with these inductions.
