Wayne State University’s baseball team mounted a notable comeback against Findlay, reversing a seven-run deficit to secure an 11-7 victory. The victory allowed Wayne State to win the season series two games to one. The team will continue with Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with a four-game series against Davenport.

Wayne State’s scoring was highlighted by an eight-run streak in the sixth inning, featuring a three-run inside-the-park home run by Aidan Arbogast, a two-run single from Caleb Sanders, and a three-run double by Drew Hill. Arbogast added to his performance in the eighth inning with an RBI single.

Arbogast, Sanders, and Hill were instrumental in Wayne State’s offense, each contributing multiple hits. Sanders and Hill, along with Mason McGuire, each scored more than once.

Bennett Hitzelberger started on the mound for Wayne State but was replaced after a third of an inning by TJ McAllister. The team’s relief pitchers significantly contributed to the win. Will DeMasse, Miles Jamieson—who earned his first victory for Wayne State, Coy Plummer, and Ethan Getting combined to allow no earned runs over the final seven innings, with Getting striking out the side to end the game.

This performance has bolstered Wayne State’s season, evening their record at 20-21 and positioning them for upcoming GLIAC competition.
