The Wayne State University baseball team, with a record of 12-14, is preparing for its 2025 home opener against Findlay, which has a record of 14-11. The game is scheduled for Tuesday at Harwell Field, with the first pitch set for 3 p.m.

Wayne State recently completed its first three GLIAC games of the season, securing a 2-1 record against Purdue Northwest. The series finale was postponed due to bad weather. The rest of Wayne State’s regular season consists of 23 games, 20 in GLIAC play, with three against Findlay. The following games between the Warriors and Oilers are set for April 8 and April 29 at UF’s Fifth Third Field.

Findlay is led by coach Matt Palm, who is in his fourth year and has achieved a 92-86 record so far. Before Findlay, Palm coached at Heidelberg University, where he spent 15 seasons and guided the team to a 459-209-2 record and multiple championships.

This season, Findlay’s team has a batting average of .262 and a team ERA of 6.07. Key players include Casey Maruniak, Keelan Daniel, Theo Winings, and Luke Senften, all of whom are hitting above .300. Maruniak leads in several statistics: runs scored, home runs, RBIs, total bases, and stolen bases.

On the pitching side, Camdon Tuttle stands out with a 0.61 ERA over 14 and two-thirds innings. Other pitchers with sub-4.00 ERAs include Sabastian Stevens, Jacob Howard, and JJ Harman. Dylan Rouse and Colin Becker each have three wins, while Ethan Mohr leads in strikeouts with 35.
