The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has recognized four Wayne State University men’s basketball players in its 2024-25 postseason awards. Rob Lee, Jr., Carmelo Harris, Tamario Adley, and Ray Williams, Jr. were honored for their performances throughout the season.

Rob Lee, Jr. secured a First Team All-GLIAC spot after a standout sophomore year where he led his team with an average of 16.5 points per game, ranking third in the league. His shooting accuracy was notable at 44.2 percent from the field and he excelled in free throws with an 81.3 percent success rate. “To be a First Team All-League player as a sophomore is a great accomplishment,” stated Head Coach Bryan Smothers.

Carmelo Harris was named to the Second Team for the second year running with an average of 14.3 points per game as a junior and achieved career-best shooting percentages both from the field and long range. He also became part of Wayne State’s prestigious 1,000 point club this season. “Following up a Second Team All-League award last year and doing it again this year is very rewarding,” commented Smothers.

Tamario Adley earned recognition on both the Second Team and All-Defensive Team thanks to his all-around contributions including leading his team in assists per game (3.2) and steals per contest (1.8). Despite missing six games due to injury, Adley’s performance was commendable across various metrics this season.

Ray Williams, Jr., recognized on the GLIAC’s All-Defensive Team for the second time, made significant defensive contributions while also setting personal records in rebounds per contest (6.5). As Wayne State’s all-time leader in games played and started, Williams will be remembered as one of the program’s top defenders.

Smothers praised each player’s development and impact on the team: “He has been our defensive anchor for three years now… I hope that he takes his game to the next level.”
