The United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) has announced its 2025 All-Academic Teams, with Wayne State University’s men’s and women’s fencing teams receiving recognition. The women’s team achieved a grade-point average of 3.64, ranking as the 10th highest among eligible programs.

Wayne State’s fencing squads had a total of 13 student-athletes who earned All-Academic Team accolades. Of these, 10 were awarded Scholar of Distinction honors for maintaining a GPA of 3.70 or higher.

The USFCA awards individual student-athletes and teams based on their combined Fall and Spring semester GPAs (or Fall and Winter quarter GPAs). All-Academic Team honors are given to those at member institutions with an in-season GPA of 3.3 or higher, while Scholar of Distinction honors are presented to those with an in-season GPA of 3.7 or higher.

All-Academic Team recipients include Freshman Brendan Goeddeke from Sterling Heights, Michigan; Freshman Jakub Oronowicz from Clarkston, Michigan; and Junior Shuayb Dinkins from Kissimmee, Florida.

Scholar of Distinction recipients include Freshman Anabella Acurero Gonzalez from Valencia, Venezuela; Junior Bryce Heim from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; Junior Ludovica Mancini from Rome, Italy; Junior Mehreen Siddiqui from Canton, Michigan; Sophomore Reka Galfalvy from Budapest, Hungary; Sophomore Salma Abdrabou from Cairo, Egypt; Junior Sam Garrett from San Francisco, California; Sophomore Sam Gneuhs from Mason, Ohio; Graduate Student Vika Shevchenko from Troy, Michigan; and Redshirt Freshman Zeyad Nofal also hailing from Cairo.
