The Wayne State University men’s swimming and diving team concluded the final preliminary session of the 2026 GLIAC Championships on Monday in Holland, Michigan. Nine student-athletes from Wayne State will compete in the finals later in the evening, along with participation in the 400 free relay.
In the 1650 freestyle event, Khalil Ben Ajmia, Kadem Goksu Erdagli, and William Debroux are set to swim in tonight’s timed final. Adam Kuc finished second with a time of 15:49.91, achieving an NCAA B Cut. Liam Seifert placed third at 15:55.95 (NCAA B Cut), and Harrison Arnold was fifth at 16:01.90. Nicholas Slater completed an exhibition swim with a time of 16:28.09.
For the 100 freestyle, Olin Charnstrom advanced to the championship finals after finishing eighth with a time of 44.43 (NCAA B Cut). Leland Curanovic finished tied for twentieth at 45.19 (NCAA B Cut) but did not advance.
In the 200 backstroke, Lorenzo Tassinari and Gabriel Arias secured spots in the championship finals by placing second (1:45.82, NCAA B Cut) and third (1:46.82, NCAA B Cut), respectively. Adam Kuc also advanced after finishing sixth.
The team saw Alex Duhaime and Lucas Safta move forward to consolation finals in the 200 breaststroke event after placing twelfth and sixteenth.
