Wayne State University’s men’s golf team has announced the addition of five new members for the 2025-26 season. Head coach Mike Horn, entering his 25th year with the Warriors, expressed optimism about the incoming class. “I think this class could prove to be very deep,” said Horn. “I’m excited to have this group altogether and leading us to our golfing future.”

The new recruits include four freshmen: Ethan Mukhtar from Farmington Hills, Grant Ofield from Ada, Will Pollack from Grand Rapids, and Aidan Treharne from Livonia. Joining them is transfer student Luke Maher from St. Clair County Community College.

Ethan Mukhtar was a standout at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory High School and earned All-Catholic League recognition in 2025. Coach Horn commented on Mukhtar’s potential, stating that he “is constantly working on his game” and will be an important part of the team going forward.

Grant Ofield comes from Forest Hills Northern High School, where he helped his team achieve back-to-back fourth-place finishes at state finals. According to Horn, “Grant will challenge for the lineup right away” due to his experience and skill.

Will Pollack also hails from Forest Hills Northern High School and has received All-State honors throughout high school. Coach Horn described him as talented and skilled, with a promising future once settled into college play.

Aidan Treharne attended University of Detroit Jesuit High School and earned accolades both athletically and academically. Horn praised Treharne as a consistent performer who will become a significant force on the team with more experience.

Transfer Luke Maher was recognized as MCCAA Eastern Conference Golfer of the Year while playing for St. Clair County Community College. Coach Horn sees Maher as an untapped talent who will contribute significantly once acclimated to Wayne State’s program.

This diverse group of athletes aims to strengthen Wayne State’s golf team in upcoming competitions.
