The Wayne State University men’s golf team is set to compete in the NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional at St. Joseph Country Club in Missouri. The event, taking place from Thursday through Saturday, will see the Warriors play 18 holes each day. Success at this stage could secure their place in the NCAA Championships scheduled for May 19-23 in Palm Beach, Florida.

Head coach Mike Horn expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and performance. “These guys have put everything into their college careers for the last three weeks and next three weeks,” he said. “They executed at the GLIAC Championship and are ready to hopefully do the same here in Missouri.”

The tournament features a total of 80 teams and 32 individuals competing across four regional tournaments. At least three teams and two individuals from each region will advance to the finals, with additional berths based on previous championship performances.

For this year’s championships, regional allocations are as follows: South/Southeast with seven berths, Midwest/Central with four berths, West/South Central with six berths, and Atlantic/East with three berths. At the finals, all participants will complete 54 holes of stroke play before determining individual champions and top team placements.

Wayne State’s lineup includes Josh DiCarlo as captain alongside Max Leppelmeier, Tyler Hurtubise, Luc Warnock, and Ian Smith. DiCarlo is making his fourth appearance at a Super Regional.

In addition to Wayne State’s participation, several other teams from both the Central and Midwest regions are competing based on national rankings. These include Central Oklahoma from the Central Region ranked #8 nationally and Grand Valley State from the Midwest Region ranked #11 nationally.
