Members of the Wayne State University women’s track and field team will participate in four meets this week, including events at Azusa Pacific University, Cal State LA, the University of La Verne, and Oakland University.
At the Azusa Pacific University Bryan Clay Invitational, athletes will compete across several events, starting with the 10,000m run on Wednesday. Reagan Justice will aim to challenge her record of 34:52.00 in this event. Additionally, there will be entries in events like the 100m, 200m, 400m, and relay events throughout the week.
The Cal State LA Twilight Open will feature athletes such as Hanne Bastiaansen and Avery Wilson competing in sprint events. Field competitors Nicole Warren and Peyton Hansen will participate in long and triple jumps, and javelin, respectively. Makayla Stewart will also compete in shot put, discus, and hammer events.
The University of La Verne Leopard Invitational includes participants like Mattie Drennan and Rachel Felstow in the 1,500m run. Nicole Warren will again participate in both long and triple jumps.
At the Oakland University Elaine Leigh Invitational, athletes like Tianna Bennett and Iyana Coates will compete in the 100m and 200m dashes, respectively, with other entries in relay, high jump, and steeplechase events.
The team’s participation at these meets represents a crucial opportunity for athletes aiming to meet or exceed school records. “After these meets, Wayne State will head to the Hillsdale Outdoor Tune-Up on Friday, April 25th.”
