Wayne State University celebrates strong academic performance by student-athletes

The student-athletes at Wayne State University have shown commendable academic performance during the Winter 2025 semester. Seventy-four athletes achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA, and 79% of the Warrior student-athletes maintained at least a 3.00 GPA. The collective term GPA for all student-athletes was recorded at 3.38, with a cumulative GPA standing at 3.451.

Among the teams, men’s tennis led with an impressive term GPA of 3.834, where six out of eight team members attained a semester GPA of 4.0. Other teams that performed well include women’s cross country (3.775), women’s swimming/diving (3.758), baseball (3.707), and several others with term GPAs above 3.5.

“These academic results are a direct reflection of their discipline, focus, and the incredible support from our coaches and academic services team,” stated Erika Wallace, WSU Director of Athletics.

The Athletic Director’s Honor Roll included numerous athletes from various sports who achieved a term GPA of 3.5 or higher, such as Nick Baker in baseball and Tamario Adley in men’s basketball.

Additionally, many athletes were recognized on the Coach’s Honor Roll for maintaining GPAs between 3.0 to 3.49 across different sports disciplines.

Wayne State University continues to emphasize both athletic and academic excellence among its student-athletes.
