The Wayne State University baseball team will face Findlay on Tuesday in its final non-conference game of the 2025 season. Both teams are entering from different standings, with Wayne State holding a 19-21 record and Findlay having a 20-19 record. The match will take place at Fifth Third Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.

In their last outing, Wayne State played against Grand Valley State over a four-game series and managed to secure a win in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader. The win was marked by Gabe Nazelli’s complete game shutout, his first career achievement of this kind. He threw 78 pitches allowing only seven hits without conceding a run.

Offensively, the team was able to put points on the board early with Bennett Hitzelberger contributing a run in the first inning. The scoring continued with Ty Garza’s solo home run in the fifth inning and Drew Hill’s double to bring home another run in the sixth.

Findlay, under the leadership of Matt Palm, is currently showcasing a team batting average of .266 and a team ERA of 6.36. Palm, who previously coached at Heidelberg University, has been with Findlay for three years and has led the team to a 98-94 record during his tenure.

Individual players for Findlay are producing strong offensive performances, including Keelan Daniel, Casey Maruniak, and Luke Senften, all of whom are batting over .300. On the mound, Camdon Tuttle is leading with a 2.22 ERA.

In their previous meeting, Wayne State achieved an overwhelming 21-0 lead over Findlay, securing a victory by scoring in the first, third, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings. Drew Hill played a crucial role in the batting lineup, contributing to the team’s offensive strategy with multiple walks.

Wayne State’s defense in that game was strong. Miles Jamieson initiated the game, while Keegan Pulford-Thorpe came from the bullpen to secure his first victory, and Coy Plummer and Oscar Pace also contributed effectively.
