The Wayne State University women’s basketball team has been included in the initial NCAA Midwest Regional Rankings for the 2025-26 season. The Warriors, who hold an 18-6 overall record, are among ten teams listed in the first release of these rankings.
The Midwest Region covers institutions from three conferences: the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), and Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). In this first ranking, teams are listed alphabetically; numerical rankings will be introduced in the next update on February 25.
The conference tournament champions from the GLIAC, G-MAC, and GLVC will automatically qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Five additional teams will receive at-large bids, making a total of eight teams advancing from the region.
Wayne State is one of five GLIAC representatives featured in this regional ranking. The full list includes Ashland (G-MAC), Ferris State (GLIAC), Grand Valley State (GLIAC), Malone (G-MAC), Michigan Tech (GLIAC), Missouri-St. Louis (GLVC), Northern Michigan (GLIAC), Northwood (G-MAC), Thomas More (G-MAC), and Wayne State (GLIAC).
Wayne State Warriors Women’s Basketball competes at the NCAA Division II level as part of intercollegiate athletics and is based in Detroit, Michigan. The program has earned multiple NCAA Tournament berths and has won GLIAC division titles, including championships in both the North Division during 2012-13 and South Division during 2014-15 seasons.
