The Wayne State University women’s cross country team has achieved significant academic recognition with 12 of its student-athletes earning Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic honors. Of these, 10 athletes were named to the All-Academic Excellence Team for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5. This marks the third consecutive year that the team has had 10 or more members on this prestigious list.
The criteria for selection require student-athletes to be active members of the roster at season’s end and not freshmen or first-year transfer students. The grade-point averages are calculated through the cross country season.
The 10 athletes who earned All-Academic Excellence Team distinctions include seniors Natalie Davies, Mattie Drennan, Emily Gordon, Reagan Justice, and Layla Martini; redshirt junior Robin Bresolin; juniors Aubrey Migoski and Briana Vojinov; redshirt sophomore Sarah Greb; and redshirt freshman Anna Gdowski.
Bresolin (Environmental Science Honors – 3.81), Davies (Journalism – 3.93), Drennan (Exercise & Sport Science – 4.00), Gordon (Exercise & Sport Science – 3.58), Justice (Early & Elementary Education – 3.58), and Martini (Environmental Science – 3.85) were recognized for the third time, with Gordon and Justice advancing from the All-Academic squad to the Excellence Team this year. Migoski (Nursing – 3.87), Vojinov (Psychology – 3.69), and Greb (Biochem & Chemical Biology – 3.65) made their second appearances on the Excellence Team, while Gdowski received accolades in her first eligible season with a GPA of 3.65 in Exercise & Sport Science.
Two additional student-athletes received All-Academic honors for maintaining a GPA between 3.0-3.49: senior Annalee Misch and redshirt sophomore Rachel Felstow.
Misch was recognized for her achievements in Technology, Information Systems and Analytics with a GPA of 3.45 for the third consecutive campaign, while Felstow earned her second honor with a GPA of 3.40 in Biological Sciences.
Justice also achieved athletic recognition as an All-American following a strong performance at the NCAA Championships where she finished in 37th place, while Vojinov received an All-Region distinction after placing 16th at the Midwest Regional meet.
