The Wayne State University women’s cross country team has been projected to finish third in the 2025 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Preseason Coaches Poll, according to an announcement made Thursday.

Grand Valley State leads the poll with 100 points and all but one first-place vote. Parkside follows with 84 points and a single first-place vote. Wayne State is ranked third with 80 points, ahead of Saginaw Valley State (77 points) and Michigan Tech (65 points). Grand Valley State continues its trend of being picked to finish first every year since the poll’s inception in 2018.

Wayne State’s current ranking ties for its second-highest preseason placement since the poll began. The team was previously selected sixth in 2018, fourth in 2019, third in both 2021 and 2022, and second in each of the last two years.

Returning athletes for Wayne State include three-year letterwinners Robin Bresolin (LaSalle, Ont.) and Aubrey Migoski (Wyandotte, Mich.), as well as two-time letterwinners Rachel Felstow (Leonard, Mich.) and Sarah Greb (Washington, Mich.). Taylor Hopkins (Sanford, Mich.) also returns after competing at the NCAA Midwest Regional last season.

Ninth-year head coach Grant Lofdahl will again lead the Warriors. “We want to make it four straight years with at least one member of the WSU women’s cross country squad competing in the NCAA Championships,” said Lofdahl.

The full GLIAC preseason poll ranks Grand Valley State first, followed by Parkside, Wayne State, Saginaw Valley State, Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan, Ferris State, Davenport, Lake Superior State, Purdue Northwest and Roosevelt.

Both men’s and women’s teams will open their seasons on Friday, September 9 at the Hillsdale Invitational. The women’s race is scheduled for a 6:00 PM start time.
