The Wayne State University women’s tennis team has been listed on the NCAA Regional Poll’s first release. This initial poll also includes two other institutions from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC): Ferris State University and Grand Valley State University.

The GLIAC, G-MAC, and GLVC Conference Tournament winners will secure automatic bids to the NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament. In addition to these automatic bids, four other teams will receive at-large bids to participate.

This is the first version of the poll, featuring teams in alphabetical order:

– Wayne State
– Ferris State
– Findlay
– Grand Valley State
– Hillsdale
– Northwood
– Rockhurst
– Tiffin
– UIndy

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its weekly rankings on Wednesday morning, placing Wayne State as the No. 28-ranked women’s tennis team nationwide. Among its competitors, Martyna Szpakowska from Gdansk, Poland, received a ranking of 62nd in singles competition. In doubles rankings, the teams of Dea Gorgidze from Tbilisi, Georgia, and Anais Ruyssen from Nantes, France, were ranked 27th, while Malak Arafat from Alexandria, Egypt, and Szpakowska were ranked 28th.

Looking forward, Wayne State’s women’s tennis team is set to host Ferris State on Friday, April 18, marking the final match of their regular season.
