Wayne State University’s women’s track and field program has achieved a significant academic milestone. The team ranked ninth nationally among all NCAA Division 2 All-Academic Teams, as reported by the USTFCCCA, with a school record GPA of 3.698. Additionally, ten members of the squad received All-Academic Athlete honors.
The criteria for being named an NCAA Division II All-Academic Team include having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all student-athletes on the institution’s NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field. This must be certifiable by the institution’s registrar.
The Wayne State Warriors who earned All-Academic Athlete status are:

– Graduate Student Taylor Hopkins (Sanford, Mich.), MBA

– Senior Renae Kutcha (Jackson, Mich.), Marketing
– Junior Elyse Miller (Woodhaven, Mich.), Exercise & Sport Science
– Sophomore Rachel Overgaard (Ypsilanti, Mich.), Biological Sciences Honors
– Redshirt sophomore Keneisha Thomas (Madison Heights, Mich.), Biological Sciences
– Senior Makenzie Wellner (Menominee, Mich.), Nursing
– Junior Avery Wilson (Davison, Mich.), Nutrition & Food Science
To qualify as an All-Academic Athlete, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of their competition semester and be academically eligible at the National Championships in their respective season.
