For the seventh consecutive occasion, the women’s golf team from Wayne State University has qualified for the NCAA East Regional. The 2025 East Regional is scheduled to be held from May 5-7 at The Meadows Golf Course, Grand Valley State, in Allendale, Michigan, as announced by the NCAA on Monday evening. Wayne State University’s team enters the postseason as the ninth seed in their region, an improvement from their previous tenth position in the most recent rankings.

There will be four 54-hole regional tournaments to determine the teams that will participate in the championship finals. In each of the east, central, south, and west regions, eighteen teams along with six individual players—who are not part of those teams—will compete.

Wayne State’s past performances in Regionals/Super Regionals include:

– 2024: 13th out of 15 teams
– 2023: 4th out of 15 teams
– 2022: 8th out of 15 teams
– 2021: 6th out of 9 teams
– 2019: 9th out of 12 teams
– 2018: 12th out of 12 teams

From these regional tournaments, the top five teams from the east and west regionals and the top four teams from the central and south regionals, along with the top two individuals (not associated with the advancing teams), will proceed to the national finals. Tiebreakers and playoffs are employed to identify team and individual champions and ensure advancement to the finals. Regional tournaments serve as the preliminary rounds of the NCAA championships, and all national championships policies will be implemented.

At the finals, all qualifying 18 teams and the 8 individual players will play 54 holes of stroke play. An individual champion will be declared following these 54 holes, along with finishers ranked from second to tenth, based on cumulative total scores and any needed tiebreakers. The top eight teams from the initial 54 holes will then be seeded into a bracket for the quarterfinals, proceeding in a medal play format, which involves stroke play over 18 holes where the lowest score prevails.
