The City of Westland is set to introduce a new emergency notification platform called the CivicPlus Emergency Notification System, also known as CivicReady. This system will replace the current provider, CodeRED, aiming to improve how residents receive alerts during emergencies and urgent situations.
With CivicReady, the city will be able to send notifications about severe weather, road closures, public safety incidents, and other important community updates. Alerts can be delivered through text messages, emails, and phone calls.
Residents already registered with CodeRED do not need to sign up again. The city has stated that “existing subscriber information will be securely transferred into the new CivicReady system.” As part of this transition, current subscribers will get a test notification that includes instructions on how to log in and check their notification preferences. The city encourages residents to confirm their settings once the new system is operational because CivicReady provides more options for customization and delivery.
Further details about the rollout and sign-up instructions for new users will be provided soon through the city’s website, official social media accounts, and WLND.
“This upgrade is part of Westland’s ongoing effort to strengthen emergency preparedness and ensure residents receive accurate, timely information when it matters most,” according to city officials.
