Wayne State University's volleyball team extended its winning streak to four matches with a victory over Michigan Tech in a five-set match on Saturday. The Warriors, who are now 9-13 overall and 4-7 in the GLIAC, faced Michigan Tech, which stands at 10-12 overall and 6-5 in the GLIAC.

"It was a gutsy effort by the Warriors today against a very good team from Michigan Tech. We had to earn every point and to our credit, we did. We were led by Kayla Giroux who had an outstanding performance," said Coach Koth.

The match saw Wayne State take an early lead by winning the first two sets. They achieved a hitting percentage of .290 in the first set with 15 kills on 31 attacks and improved it to .407 in the second set with 14 kills on 27 swings. Despite trailing Michigan Tech by five points initially, Wayne State rallied back scoring 12 out of the next 15 points.

Michigan Tech responded with their best performance in the third set, hitting .371 followed by .303 in the fourth set. However, Wayne State managed to regain control in the decisive fifth set with a .471 hitting percentage after being tied four times before securing a lead for good.

Kayla Giroux led Wayne State with 16 kills while Molly Miller contributed her fifth double-double of the season with 14 kills and ten digs. Carly Rodman added five aces to aid her team's effort. Notably, Kayla Dulgar reached a career high of 54 assists during this match.

Michigan Tech managed to hit .257 as a team against Wayne State, marking it as one of their highest clips faced this season that still resulted in victory for Wayne State.

Looking ahead, Wayne State is scheduled for an away game against Ferris State on Wednesday at Big Rapids.
