The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team secured their fourth consecutive victory at the Don Kimble Invitational, hosted by Davenport. The event took place in Kentwood, Michigan, where the Warriors amassed a total of 1,028 points among seven competing teams. The team triumphed in 10 out of the 20 events they participated in.
"It was a wonderful weekend for the Warriors," said head coach Sean Peters. "There were so many great performances with our swims and on the boards. It was a full team effort and we really gave it our all, and the results show. I have to also give credit to all the other schools participating, as they really brought it, and helped bring out the best in us. I know with a strong December and January, we can really have a great February and March, and I look forward to this journey with our Warriors!"
Several athletes achieved first-place finishes in individual events. Alli Vassilakos excelled in both the 1650 free with a time of 16:40.06 and the 500 free clocking at 4:57.70. Delaney Parker won the 100 breaststroke at 1:04.49, while Barbara Munoz claimed victories in both the 200 fly (2:01.20) and the 400 IM (4:24.61). Sabine Branford topped the podium in the 50 free with a time of 23.77.
In relay events, Munoz, Vassilakos, Julia Katulski, and Branford together clinched first place in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:27.13.
Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru showed dominance on both diving platforms by winning first place in both the 1-meter (408.30) and 3-meter (410.85) diving events.
This latest success follows three previous wins at past Don Kimble Invitationals from 2021 to 2023.
Looking ahead, Wayne State will next compete against Saginaw Valley State on January 4th at Matthaei.
