Wayne State University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to compete against Northern Michigan University in a two-day dual meet this weekend. The event will take place at the PEIF Pool in Marquette, Michigan, beginning Friday, November 7 at 5 p.m., and continuing Saturday, November 8 with a 10 a.m. start.

This competition marks Wayne State's first dual meet of the 2025-26 regular season. Earlier in October, the Warriors participated in the swimming-only Davenport Invitational and hosted the Detroit Diving Classic.

Head coach Sean Peters commented on the upcoming challenge: "Being that this weekend is our second meet, and with the location at NMU - whose programs are always ranked highly on both sides and capable of swimming fast every weekend - it will be a great challenge for our teams. We have a young core of women that are gaining experience, as well as our men who will have plenty of excellent races. I am eager to see how the trip unfolds!"

Both Wayne State and Northern Michigan are nationally ranked according to recent College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) top 25 polls. The Wayne State men's team holds 11th place with 142 points, while the women's team is ranked 13th with 126 points. Northern Michigan's men are currently eighth with 182 points; their women’s squad stands at tenth with 149 points.

Northern Michigan is led by head coach Heidi Voigt, now in her sixteenth season. Voigt has been named GLIAC Coach of the Year five times—earning recognition for both men's and women's teams over several years. This season, Northern Michigan has already competed against Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley State, Findlay, St. Cloud State, Davenport, and Lake Superior State.

After facing Northern Michigan this weekend, Wayne State will have more than three weeks before its next competition: the Golden Grizzly Invite hosted by Oakland University from December 3 to December 6. Other schools scheduled to participate include Dartmouth and Grand Canyon.
