Saint Mary Catholic Central football team visits Michigan Capitol | Facebook
On February 20, Sen. Dale Zorn (R-Ida Township) and Rep. Joe Bellino (R-Monroe) welcomed the Saint Mary Catholic Central football team to the Michigan Capitol after their state championship victory. Bellino was a bit nostalgic at the team’s arrival and state championship win, and he showed his Saint Mary pride in a post on his Facebook page.
“Today Senator Zorn and I received a visit from the Saint Mary Catholic Central football team, upon their victory in the state championship in late November," wrote Bellino. “It was a pleasure to host them during their visit here at the Capitol. After 48 years I still bleed green and gold!”
The team won the Michigan state championship in November 2019 and had the opportunity to visit the Capitol after the legislative session began. While it was a great experience for the football team, it was also widely appreciated by the public, with Zorn and Bellino receiving praise for hosting the team from their constituents.
