City of Livonia issued the following announcement on Feb 2.
A snow emergency has been declared for the City of Livonia. All vehicles must be removed from the streets by 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 under City ordinance. Vehicles not removed shall be subject to ticketing and/or towing. Snowfall is expected to continue through Thursday, Feb. 3.
Clearing the roadways of snow will result in snow piles in front of driveways, which is unavoidable. It is not possible for the City to clear individual driveways. Larger plow vehicles cannot access courts, cul-de-sacs and dead ends; smaller equipment will follow up to clear these areas.
The SnowPaths website is a new program, allowing residents to see neighborhood streets where City of Livonia plow trucks are working and where they have been. It also shows major streets and County Roads, but the SnowPaths site does not display plowing for those roads, just that City vehicles used them to access neighborhood streets. Wayne County offers a separate snowplow tracker website for plowing on major roads.
As road conditions are expected to be challenging, residents are urged to stay off the road if possible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, blanket and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Please exercise caution when shoveling snow.
As a reminder, most major roads in Livonia are maintained by Wayne County including Ann Arbor Road, Grand River, Eight Mile, Seven Mile, Six Mile, Five Mile, Plymouth, Joy, Haggerty, Wayne south of Plymouth, Farmington, Merriman, Middlebelt and Inkster.
Livonia crews maintain Schoolcraft, Newburgh, Ann Arbor Trail, Levan, Stark, half-mile roads such as West Chicago, Lyndon, Hubbard and neighborhood streets.
