The most recent 911 Communications new hire class, which began April 4, has already completed over 160 hours of training, which includes training in CPR & AED, LEIN, Customer Service, Human Trafficking, Mental Health First Aid & Crisis Intervention Training, Cultural Competency, and Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC).
Over the next few months, these future dispatchers will continue to learn legal, Computer Aided Dispatch operations, department policies & procedures, Emergency Medical Dispatch, Stress Management, and begin live processing of emergency calls.
Training to hold the prestigious Emergency Services Deployment Operator title is extensive, fast paced, stimulating and engaging. Training is student-led, which promotes group activities to discuss materials with their peers, classroom and scenario-based learning, as well as real-life emergency training. #OneDetroit
