The hard work of everyone involved in investigating the hit-and-run that tragically killed a 32-year-old woman last week has resulted in an arrest and charges.
Minutes after officers responded to the area of Dragoon and McMillan on May 16, the Crime Intelligence Unit captured an image of the vehicle involved fleeing the scene. The surveillance image, taken from a Project Green Light location, was forwarded to officers as they searched for the driver.
On May 18, officers with DPD 4th Precinct located and recovered the wanted vehicle.
On May 19, the defendant, Leonardo Emmanuel Munoz-Gutierrez, turned himself in.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Munoz-Gutierrez with failure to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault – resulting in death and reckless driving causing death. #OneDetroit
