Adults who are at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes will soon have the opportunity to participate in a free, in-person support group at Henry Ford Centennial Library (HFCL).

The Diabetes Prevention Program, led by Corewell Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will begin with an informational session on Monday, Feb. 12, from 6-7 p.m. in room 15 on the third floor of the HFCL.

The year-round program will help participants maintain the healthy lifestyle changes promoted through the program, while also working to prevent or delay the development of Type 2 Diabetes.

Participants will receive coaching on healthy eating, routine physical activity, and stress management. The support group will also focus on helping participants to stay motivated and solve challenges that can get in the way of making healthy lifestyle changes, all in an effort to prevent Type 2 Diabetes.

The group will meet weekly for the first six months, followed by meetings either once or twice a month for the second half of the year.

Those interested in the program are encouraged to register at Beaumont.org/DPP or by calling 800-633-7377.
